PAST SIRES

In the 1980s, the best of Australian and imported bloodlines were purchased from "Yenda", "Helensvale", "Cherokee", "Apis Creek" and "Savannah", and an extensive artificial insemination and embryo transplant program was commenced.

The purchase in 1988 of the pure Brazilian Gyr bull Idioma P.O.I Americana from the original importers was a significant addition to our red herd. He proved to be extremely fertile and very heavily muscled, adding to the emphasis on beef, fertility, structural soundness, milking ability and docility.

We have subsequently used a mix of purchased and Mogul-bred sires, as well as sires by artificial insemination, including:

• Kenrol Montana Manso. Reserve Champion Bull Calf at Beef 2003. Sired by 2002 and 2003 Sire of the Year in JDH Mr Boswick Manso and out of the 2002 Dam of the Year, Be Os Lady Bianca Manso. Montana was selected for his Brahman Purity and sire appeal.

• Mogul Gaucho Manso (by JDH Mr Manso 61/9). In 1999 had Breedplan EBV for milk +2, 400-day weight of +30 and 600-day weight of +46, all ranking him in the top 5% band. His 200-day weight of +20 ranked him in the top 10%.

• Jay-W Sir Bruce. Selected for his powerful muscle expression and sire appeal. Sired by the record-breaking JDH Elefante R Manso 272. First season progeny, Mogul Nike, sold for $16,000 at the 2003 Rockhampton Brahman Sale. A number of his progeny are polled.
• Billabong Round Tree. Sired by Lancefield D Robinson. Purchased privately. Selected for temperament, muscling and sire appeal.
• Braedella Angus. Ribbon winner at the Rockhampton World Brahman Congress. His excellent sheath, growth for age and Brahman character led us to select this bull. His progeny are exciting.
• Mogul Kama (by HK Millionaire 167/2). Pedigree full of top imported bloodlines. Impressive EBVs, temperament and Brahman character.
• Mogul Oakwood. Grand Champion Bull at Sydney Royal Easter Show 2004. An outstanding son of JDH Karu Manso (see Shows Archive).
