MOGUL NEWSLETTER AUGUST 2007 15 August 2007 Dear Fellow
Brahman Breeders Life at Mogul
remains busy all-year-round. In spite of the
rain, we had a very encouraging roll-up at “The Land” Northern Beef Week
Open Day on Monday 25th
June. Visitors were able to see
our 2007 line-up of red and grey bulls for sale, our elite weaner calves, from
which our next group of show cattle and sale bulls will be selected, and our
outstanding show cattle, which have done so well at Royal, Feature and other
regional shows. The sale season
has already begun. Casino All-Breeds
Sale saw Mogul selling six bulls, with our grey bull, Mogul Sorrento, selling
for $4,000.00 - the top priced Brahman
bull. We have entered
eight bulls, lots 55-62, and six heifers, lots 91-96, for the Grafton Bos Indicus Sale on 1st
September 2007. Included in the
draft is Mogul Swagman, a grey
well-bodied bull with an outstanding show record by Mogul Oakwood. He was
Senior and Grand Champion at the North Coast National, in Lismore in 2006 and
in Maclean in 2007, Reserve Senior Champion at the Toowoomba Feature Show in
2007, and Senior Champion at both Sydney Royal and Grafton Feature Shows in
2007. Another outstanding entry in
Grafton is the very thick red bull by Mogul Maseratti, Mogul Shreik. In October we
have five outstanding two year-old grey bulls on offer at Rockhampton Brahman Week on day 1, Monday October 1, lots 244-248. See our website www.mogulstud.com.au for photos and pedigrees of these
bulls and other sale cattle. 2006 saw us sell
the outstanding red heifer Mogul Sue
Ellen by Lanes Creek Revolution
to Brett Nobbs in Queensland for $30,000.00.
We are now offering two year old bull calves by her sire for sale. They are available for inspection on
property. Mogul Miss Fontenot 8th by Mr Fontenot 125 won more
championships over the past year, including Senior Championship Female
at Sydney Royal in 2007, Supreme
Bos Indicus Exhibit and Supreme Exhibit of the Show at the Maclean
Show 2007 and Reserve Senior Championship at the 2007 Grafton Feature
Show. She now has an outstanding red
heifer calf at foot by Lanes Creek Revolution — see the website. Another top red heifer, Mogul Miss I Wittlesea 2nd by Edenglassie Red Texan, won Junior and Grand Championship Female ribbons at the 2007 Sydney Royal Easter
Show and was also awarded the Best
Exhibit Rosette. She was Reserve Junior Champion at the Toowoomba Feature Show. We also won the Kyabra trophy for the 17th
time. We have expanded our line of sires with the
purchase of two new grey bulls — PBF Cossack Manso 676 and Timbrel Mr Q Pak
Manso 255. See our website www.mogulstud.com.au for further
details. In December 2006 we visited Thailand to see
how the cattle we exported there in 2005 were faring. They had settled in well.
Semen from Mogul Regent was being sold to local cattlemen and
some of the females had calves at foot.
